Jim Thorpe Area High School will host its second mini dance-a-thon for children's cancer on May 7 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The event will be held in the high school gymnasium.

This "mini-THON" is a smaller version of Penn State's THON, which is a student-run, multi-hour dance event that supports The Four Diamonds Fund. PSU students raised over $9.54 million dollars this year over President's Day weekend.At the first JTAHS mini-THON, participants raised over $2,000 to be donated to the Four Diamonds Fund for children being treated at Milton S. Hershey Hospital in the Penn State Wing.The Four Diamonds Fund was founded in 1972 by Charles and Irma Millard, after their son Christopher lost his battle with cancer at the age of 14. The Millard's wanted to establish a fund to help out with the medical bills of families fighting childhood cancer. They named it the Four Diamonds Fund, after a story written by Chris. This fund covers 100 percent of the medical expenses, as well as providing outstanding emotional support.The public is invited to participate and join the students to come together and dance for the cause.
