The administration of Carbon Career and Technical Institute reworked the 2011-2012 budget to help Carbon County school districts in the hard economic times. CCTI will cut certain costs to save the five districts a total of $350,000.

In March, the CCTI budget passed with a 3.75 percent increase in the overall expenditures from 2010-2011 to 2011-2012. The overall budget is then split with the five districts in an active district share.CCTI revised the budget to cut costs and save the school districts money. Instead of a 3.75 percent increase in expenditures, there will be a 2.00 percent decrease in expenditures from 2010-2011 to 2011-2012. The new budget for the 2011-2012 school year will be a 5.75 percent decrease from the previous proposed budget. This decrease in the budget expenditures will save the five districts a total of $350,000."We took it upon ourselves to find ways to help the schools save money," stated David Reinbold, CCTI Administrative Director."The districts are really challenged with figuring their budget in these economic times," he said.To implement the cost cutting measures, CCTI will not hire an additional aid that they planned to hire for the next school year. Also, CCTI may not replace some retiring members of staff for the next year."We do our best to help the districts and we try to work hand and hand with them," stated Jeffry Deutsch, CCTI Business Administrator.
