If you have watched television this past week, you know that on Friday Prince William married his long time love Kate Middleton. The wedding was lavish, featuring a beautiful chapel, an extensive guest list of dignitaries, and wedding receptions across England in the couple's honor.

While this wedding was beautiful, the main focus of the ceremony (as is always the case) was the bride. For weeks, much of the conversation surrounded who Kate is, where she is from, and what should she wear. On the day of the ceremony, all eyes were not on the prince, but on his bride.In much the same way, all the eyes of Heaven are upon us, the bride of Jesus.Throughout scripture, the illustration of marriage is used to demonstrate our relationship to Jesus. For when we accept Christ as the Savior of our life, and commit ourselves to completely following Him, He becomes our groom. The apostle Paul, instructing men how to treat their wives, writes this about Christ and His relationship to the church, "Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her with water through the Word, and to present her to Himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless" (Ephesians 5:25-27).Just as Kate Middleton will be presented before the altar of Westminster Abby by her groom, we, the church of Christ, will be presented before the eternal altar of God. This presentation, just as it will change Kate from a bride to a wife, will also change the church, as we are transformed from our existence here to our eternal reward in Heaven.Now that is a marriage made in Heaven.Pastor Kenneth OgdenPeople's EC Church, Lehighton
