Wrecked vehicle abandoned in Hometown, man arrested

Police from Rush Township and Tamaqua and other emergency volunteers responded to a call of a wrecked car along Grove Street (which leads to the Rush Township Elementary School) in Hometown. When the officers arrived they noticed that there was no driver or passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle, a blue Audi, had struck a tree and was hanging over the edge of a grassy incline on the side of the road. After running the plate, officers traced the driver as Joseph Benny of South Street in Hometown. Tamaqua police went to the home and picked up Benny. Township police took Benny into custody and are handling the case.
