Veterans' photosIn conjunction with Memorial Day, the Summit Hill Historical Society will again be putting veterans' pictures on display in its museum window. The photographs should be framed and labeled with the veteran's name and years of service on them, and can contain any other pertinent information about the serviceman/woman's service. Persons donating the photographs for use should put their telephone number on the backs of the frames so that they can be promptly returned.The pictures can be dropped off at the Summit Hill Water Authority office or arrangements will be made to obtain them by calling Maxine Vermillion, (570) 645-9772.The photographs are due by May 4.St. Paul LutheranThe Rev. Robert Brueckner will be the supply pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, for its weekly worship service on Sunday, May 1. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Brueckner is a retired pastor from Nescopeck.Also this weekend, the Sunday school will be held at 9 a.m. The classes will run through May 8.Arbor Day plansThe Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting the annual Arbor Day ceremony and planting of memorial trees on Saturday, April 30, at 9 a.m.The ceremony will take place at the gazebo in Ludlow Park. The deadline for applying is May 6.NesquehoningHealth screeningThe OMEGA Health Screen will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 7-9:30 a.m. at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Nesquehoning.There is a fee for the event sponsored by the Nesquehoning Woman's Club.Please preregister by calling 1-800-776-6342, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.The screening consists of blood tests and lifestyle evaluation.
