Six from area among 28 placed in Schuylkill County probation program

Senior Judge J. Michael Stine, at a hearing held in Schuylkill County Court, qualified 28 people, including six from the area, for the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program.

The program is only available to first offenders of non-violent crime. They were recommended for the program by District Attorney James P. Goodman. If they successfully complete the conditions imposed by the court then their criminal record is cleared. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted. Those placed included:Pedro Santos Aldana, 45, of 698 Claremont Avenue, Tamaqua R.D., on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) was ordered to pay a $500 assessment to defray cost of the program, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), complete alcohol highway safety school and driver's license suspended $60 days. Lux, 24, of 274 Van Gelder St., Tamaqua, on a DUI charge was assessed $500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC), perform 10 hours community service, enroll in safety program, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, submit to random tests and license suspended 60 days.
