Man pulls gun on police

A Monroe County man pulled a gun on pursuing police and after a brief standoff was taken into custody.

Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the man as Scott Alexander, 22, of Tobyhanna.According to police on Sunday, April 24, about noon officers responded to 10 McNamara Lane, in Simpsons Glen, Tobyhanna, for check on the welfare of Alexander called in by concerned family members. Upon arrival Alexander fled on foot.When police caught up with him he pulled a small handgun which caused a brief standoff. Alexander dropped the weapon and was taken into custody. An investigation revealed the weapon had been stolen from Alexander's foster father.Alexander was initially taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for an involuntary commitment. Upon his release he was placed under arrest and jailed in the county prison in Snydersville on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm without a license and possessing instruments of a crime.
