Hunter earns PSAC Co-Pitcher of Week

Lehighton graduate and current Bloomsburg University freshman Kyle Hunter was selected as a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 18-24.

Hunter threw a complete game three-hitter to help Bloomsburg to a 3-1 win over East Stroudsburg in a makeup game on Monday, April 18. He allowed just one run on the three hits, walked one and struck out six over seven innings.Aside from the one run that scored in the first inning, Hunter did not allow any other runners to get past first base and retired 10 straight at one point to improve to 3-1 on the season.Hunter's win came over an East Stroudsburg team that was nationally ranked as high as No. 11 this season and that has consistently received votes in national polls.Hunter shares co-Pitcher honors with Shippensburg's Nick Umberger, who won a 2-1 decision with five hits against ESU on Friday, April 22.Along with his 3-1 record, Hunter this season has pitched 41.1 innings, allowed 39 hits and 14 earned runs for a team-leading ERA of 3.05. The right-hander, who has started seven games and relieved twice, has walked 14 and struck out 26. Opposing batters are hitting just .244 against him.
