Employees of Pennsylvania Monument, Hazleton, install a granite base at the Jim Thorpe memorial on the east side of the borough early this morning. The base is for a second statue honoring Olympic athlete Jim Thorpe, whose mausoleum is seen in the background. The new statue will be unveiled on May 21. The first statue, seen between the base and truck, was unveiled by the Jim Thorpe Sports Hall of Fame four years ago.
