Lehighton police report for March

The Lehighton Police Department has released its March report:

Police issued 78 traffic violations - 59 speeding tickets; 11 for failing to obey traffic control devices; two for failing to obey stop or yield signs; and one each for following too closely, fleeing or attempting to elude police, failing to obey safety requirements for towed vehicles, failure to obey traffic control signals, unauthorized persons or devices hanging on vehicles, and use of multiple beam road lighting equipment.Police also issued 55 metered parking tickets; 57 prohibited tickets; and 19 parking citations.They also gave 11 warnings about speeding and 18 other warnings. Police also dealt with traffic accidents, with one that caused injury, 10 that did not cause injury and two hit-and-run incidents.Police also handled two dog complaints, one trash complaint and one trash warning.Miscellaneous services included one door found open; eight domestic complaints; two mental health matters; assisting ambulances four times; assisting people 60 times; investigating 10 alarms; eight 911 hang-up calls; answering 481 calls, with only five categorized as unfounded; 63 borough property checks; 54 business checks; 15 business escorts; 10 high school traffic assists; two crossing guard substitutes and one miscellaneous transport.The four police cruisers racked up the miles: car #1 used 157.5 gallons of gas and traveled 1,409 miles; car #2 used 166 gallons of gas and traveled 1,539 miles; car #3 used 31.2 gallons of gas and traveled 258 miles and car #4 used 76.5 gallons of gas and traveled 814 miles.Full-time police officers put in 1,056 regular and 10 overtime hours (this doesn't include overtime paid for working holidays), with 29 hours of sick leave and 36 vacation hours.Part-time officers worked 112 regular hours. The entire department put in 190 training hours, 30 court hours, 159 investigation hours and 46 drug task force hours.Officers arrested a total of 30 people for a total of 56 offenses.
