New pastor called to St. Peter's Church

The Rev. Cheryl Moore was called as the pastor of St. Peter's Church, St. Peter's Road, Tamaqua, on March 20 and will begin her pastorate on Monday, April 18.

She will be busy her first week, since it will be "Holy Week" in preparation for Easter Sunday. Services will be held on Thursday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m., Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m., and Easter morning at 6:30 and 9 a.m.A graduate of Penn State University Park Campus and Lancaster Theological Seminary, Rev. Moore will bring a great deal of experience to St. Peter's Church. She also has experience working in the field of child welfare and as a mental health therapist in a children's day treatment facility. She served churches in central and southeast Pennsylvania.Rev. Moore grew up in a union church, so serving the people of St. Peter's Church, which is a shared ministry of Lutheran and United Christ of Christ denominations, will be like coming home to her. St. Peter's Church is associated with the Penn Northeast Conference and the PA Northeast Synod.St. Peter's Search Committee has worked diligently for quite some time in order to find the right pastor for the church. The committee, as well as the congregation, are excited to have Rev. Moore serve as its next pastor.
