Panther Valley school board director R. Mickey Angst is once again in hot water with other members of the school board.

Director David Hiles called for Angst's resignation last night after Angst admitted that he had copied and distributed communication from the board's solicitor, Robert Yurchak, that was labeled confidential. Hiles also asked that the board begin to look into legally removing Angst from the board.Angst claimed that the copy of the internal memo that he had received via email had not been marked confidential. Yurchak responded that Angst "should have checked before this went out." The memo related to ongoing litigation that the board is involved with concerning the school's drug testing policy and the ACLU.Hiles asked for a motion banning Angst from board meetings, however, Yurchak said that was not possible. Another motion was made, barring Angst from receiving any paperwork from the district; however, director Anthony Pondish said that he doubted the legality of that motion as well and requested that Angst just not receive anything marked confidential."I don't want to cause a lawsuit, but he has proven time and time again that he cannot maintain confidentiality," said Pondish. Angst then added that he "did not care to have any confidential information sent to me."Angst also accused the other board members of interfering with the ability to do his job. Yurchak advised Angst that he had "just seriously interfered with a legal case."Board President Jeff Markovich said that Angst is guilty of violating four or five items on the board's code of ethics."We all read that we were going to be sued by the ACLU," Angst said to justify his actions. "We took no action and the clock started to run. We didn't have a special meeting. At some point, we've got to decide what we're going to do."Hiles eventually walked out of the meeting.A motion to immediately rescind the drug and alcohol testing policy failed, with directors Pondish, Markovich, and Anthony DeMarco voting against the motion. Angst, Irene Genther, and Bill Hunsicker voted for the motion. Board members Donna Trimmel and Koreen Nalesnik were not in attendance.A motion to hire the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company to analyze the lawsuit brought against the district by the ACLU; M.T., a minor, by and through her parents, Morgan and Donna Thomas; and Jeremy Thomas, Docket Number 11-0552 passed, although Angst urged a no vote.Trimmel, who was not at last night's meeting, had previously called for Angst's resignation in December of 2009, citing several violations of the board's code of ethics, including communicating with the media and discussing ongoing legal matters, which at that time referred to the lawsuit between the county tax collection office and the school district.
