A former Carbon County resident admitted on Tuesday his part in a four-county burglary and drug ring.

Robert Cesanek, 23, formerly of Nesquehoning and currently an inmate in the county prison, pleaded guilty to five counts of burglary and in another pending case, to two counts of simple assault.Cesanek spent a lot of time in the county court over the first two days of the week. On Monday he entered guilty pleas to two counts of thefts. A story on those pleads appeared in Tuesday's edition of the TIMES NEWS on page 12.Cesanek was one of 12 persons arrested in April 2010 for taking part in a drug and burglary ring that was operating in Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill counties for a few years.Agents of the state Attorney General's office along with the county drug task force and local police were involved in the investigation. Carbon County District Attorney Gary F. Dobias announced the arrests on April 12 and called the investigation into the ring, "Operation Golden Dope."All the burglary counts are felonies while the two assault charges are misdemeanor twos.Assistant District Attorney Joseph Matika said the break-ins Cesanek admitted to occurred in Lehighton and Nesquehoning (two) in Carbon, and one each in Northampton County and Allentown in Lehigh County.Matika said the items stolen included jewelry, guns and cash. The stolen property was later sold at pawn shops with the money used to purchase illegal drugs for resale in the Carbon.The two assaults occurred in Nesquehoning on Feb. 8, 2009.Senior Judge Richard W. Webb accepted the pleas and deferred sentencing. Webb accepted the theft pleas on Monday and ordered a presentence investigation (PSI) be prepared by the adult probaiton office. He said the PSI would include the new charges.
