Two nabbed for home invasion

Two Schuylkill County residents were nabbed in the act of a home invasion and robbery incident. State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 7:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, at 300 Elm St., in the village of Gordon, Butler Township.

Troopers were dispatched to the above address for a report of a robbery in progress. Upon arrival the troopers encountered a 17-year-old male from Gordon exiting the home. He was taken into custody without incident.Troopers said they later found Ian Mark Kaufman, 20, of 501 McKnight St., Gordon, on an adjacent street near the target residence acting as a lookout. He attempted to flee on foot and following a short foot chase he was apprehended and taken into custody.Troopers said the homeowner, Sandra Wolfgang, 73, told them the juvenile smashed through a glass patio door to enter her home. Once inside he entered her bedroom and held up a knife and demanded pain pills or money. The woman gave the juvenile her medication.Troopers said the district attorney's office has decided to charge the juvenile as an adult. The juvenile was charged with robbery, burglary, simple assault, criminal mischief and theft.Kaufman was charged with criminal conspiracy to committ robbery, burglary, simple assault, criminal mischief and theft.The two were arraigned before duty District Judge James Reilly, of Pottsville, and committed to the county prison after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail each.
