A Carbon County driver is facing charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), following a two vehicle crash that occurred about 12:34 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the intersection of SR209 and Cherryhill Road, in Franklin Township.

State police at Lehighton said Joseph T. Ruzicka, 44, of Lehighton, was attempting to make a right turn from 209 onto Cherryhill Rd. at a speed that was greater than reasonable. His vehicle crossed the road and struck a vehicle driven by Ralph Wentz, 81, of Lehighton, head-on.Ruzicka had a passenger, Tyler J. Ruzicka, 2, of Lehighton, and Wentz had a passenger, William Fillingham, 86, of Lehighton. No one was reporetd injured.Troopers said Ruzicka was found to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. He was placed under arrest and charged with DUI, recklessly endangering and several summary motor vehicle code violations.Troopers said Ruzicka was arraigned on the charges and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning.
