Four-year-old hit by a car

A 4-year-old Tamaqua boy was injured Thursday, April 7, when he ran into a roadway and into a passing vehicle.

The incident took place at 6:17 p.m. when the young boy ran into the street in the 100 block of West Rowe Street.As he darted out he ran into a 2003 Jeep Liberty, which was being driven west by Lisa Frantz, 48, of MaryD.Frantz told police she did not see the boy but stopped when she felt a thump against her car. She looked back and saw the child lying in the street with two other children running toward him.The child's 13-year-old sister confirmed Frantz's account telling officers the boy wanted to play hide and seek with another child who was across the street.The victim suffered facial injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.There was no damage to the Jeep and no charges will be filed.
