Marijuana found growing in Coaldale apartment

In addition to Tuesday's methamphetamine and heroin drug bust at 101 East High St. in Coaldale, police also performed another separate drug bust the day before, which resulted in the arrest of Matthew Edmonds, 21, of 231 Fisher Ave., apartment 2A.

According to the affidavit of probable cause - On Monday, April 4, Coaldale Police officers Charles Blesse and Chief Tim Delaney received a well-informed tip that eventually resulted in the approval of a search warrant. A few hours later, the officers searched the apartment and discovered five marijuana plants and a hydroponics system used to grow marijuana. Two glass bowls were also found along with a vaporizer used for smoking marijuana.Officers also found a black CD case containing different kinds of marijuana seeds for growing, along with two empty ones. Two Alprazolam pills in a plastic bag were also found.Edmonds was charged with a misdemeanor involving possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia for the purpose of planting, propagating, cultivating, growing, harvesting, manufacturing, compounding, converting, producing, processing, preparing, testing, analyzing, packing, repacking, storing, containing, concealing, injecting, inhaling, ingesting, or otherwise introducing into the human body a controlled substance. Also found were two glass pipes with marijuana residue and a vaporizer used for smoking marijuana.Edmonds was also charged with a felony which involved the manufacture of a controlled substance by constructing a hydroponic marijuana grow with five marijuana plants. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, Alprazolam.Edmonds was arraigned Tuesday and is currently out on bail after posting the required 10 percent of the $10,000 straight cash bail.
