An American Red Cross Bloodmobile held March 30 collected a total of 49 units of the "gift of life," held at the Tamaqua Salvation Army Center on West Broad Street.Multi-gallon pins were awarded to Wendy Shlanta, two gallons, and Carl Heisler, 10 gallons.Volunteers included Jack Quinn, Bob Zeplin, Jack Rarick, Joe Rimm, Randy Gormley, Bob and Dolly Shirey, Ardis Gerhard, Edie Hoffman and Robert and Darlene Zeckman.This visit was sponsored by Bowe, Lisella and Bowe, attorneys at law.TEPTOThe Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will meet Monday, at 6:30 p.m. in the Tamaqua Elementary School Library.Gertrude Hawk candy orders are to be picked up this Friday, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., in the TES lobby.Also Friday, there will be a dance for students in grades three, four and five, from 7-9 p.m.Cell phones are not allowed.Talent show auditions will be held April 12, from 5-7 p.m., in the Rush Elementary School gym.More information is available by calling Kelly at (570) 668-5534.The first grade class field trip is scheduled for April 14.Also on that day, DARE graduation will be held at 6:30 in the school district auditorium, located next to the middle school.Spring pictures, as well as a dress down day, will be held April 15 for students in the Tamaqua school.A "Cat's Pajama Show" will be presented to students in the Rush Elementary School on April 19 and at the Tamaqua Elementary School on April 20.Easter break will begin at the conclusion of the school day on April 21. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 26.Egg huntThe North and Middle Ward Playground Association will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 16, beginning at 3 p.m. The event is open to children up to the age of 12.Driver's safety courseAn AARP Driver's safety refresher course, classroom only, will be held April 28 at the Tamaqua Salvation Army Center, 105 W. Broad St., from noon to 4 p.m.This refresher course is designed for drivers 50 and older.Proof of previous attendance at a driver's safety class, within the past 36 months, is required.Successful completion of the course entitles participants to a reduction in their auto insurance costs.For more information or to register, call (570) 668-0410.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Pastor Bob Burkey will officiate.Fitness for Friends, a community exercise class, meets Mondays and Thursdays, 6-7 p.m., in the social hall.
