Ten persons with pending criminal charges entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday. Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas as follows:

Walter Armbstrong, 25, of Bowerston, Ohio, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI), and a summary motor vehicle code violation.He was arrested on May 16, 2010, along SR940 in Kidder Township. Given a test, the result was .29BAC.Serfass placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, and get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment. On the summary offense he was fined $25 and costs.Alexander S. Kaz, 19, of Hazleton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on May 8, 2010, along Laurel St., in Weatherly, during a traffic stop. Police found paraphernalia in the car along with marijuana in bags. A drug possession count was dropped.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a D&A evaluation and perform three hours of community service per month while on probation.Ricky Alex Williams, 20, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense. He was arrested on July 24, 2010, at his residence with his girlfriend, Lisa Ciampaglia, as the listed victim. Police listed the incident as a domestic assault. An assault count was dropped.Serfass imposed a fine of $300 and costs.Bernard Mieczkowski Jr., 33, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Aug. 1, 2010, along Holland St., in Summit Hill. Given a test, the result was .17BAC.Serfass sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, get a D&A evaluation and a one year license suspension. He will begin the jail term on Wednesday, April 6, at 6 p.m.Marcus L. Morin, 37, of Pocono Lake, pleaded guilty in two pending cases to one count each of false reports to law enforcement and harassment.He was arrested on the false reports charge on Oct. 2, 2009, by Kidder Township police. Police said Morin made a claim for damages with Porgressive Insurance Company saying a trailer and ski dew he owned was stolen. Police said the items were not stolen.The harassment count, a summary, stems from a Feb. 20 incident. Kidder police were called to the residence of Samantah Denver, 39 Crest Drive, Split Rock, the defendant's wife, for a domestic incident.On the false reports charge Serfass placed Morin on probation for a year and ordered he render three hours of community service per month while on probation. On the harassment count he was fined $300 and costs and ordered to attend and complete a anger management course.Joshua Edward Gattine, 20, of Hazleton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Sept. 26, 2009, along Broad St., in Beaver Meadows. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance in his system.Serfass sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, get a D&A evaluation, and a one year license suspension. He was given credit for two days spent in jail and will begin serving the third day at 9 a.m. on April 13.Paul A. Madonna, 47, of King of Prussa, Montgomery County, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Oct. 29, 2010, by state police at Fern Ridge along SR940. Given a test, the result was .15BAC.Serfass sentenced him to serve five days to six months in prison, a fine of $300, get a D&A evaluation and license suspended for one year. He will begin the jail term on Friday, April 8, at 8 a.m.James Hood, 20, of Pennsauken, N.J., pleaded to one count of escape. He was arrested on June 9, 2010, by state police at Fern Ridge for leaving the Youth Forestry Camp, Camp Adams, in Penn Forest Township, without permission.Serfass sentenced him to time served (48 days) to one year in jail and immediately paroled him.Zach A. Rossi, 27, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested on May 30, 2010, along Willow Lane in Nesquehoning for assaulting a 16-year-old male.Serfass placed him on probation for two years and ordered he have no contact with the victim, render three hours of community service per month while on probation and attend and complete a anger management course.James A. McClain III, 42, of Lansford, pleaded to one count each of DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Nov. 16, 2010, along Park Avenue in Nesquehoning. Given a test, the result was .11BAC and also the presence of marijuana in his system.On the DUI charge Serfass placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation. On the possession count he was placed on probation for a year concurrent to the DUI count.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
