Students learn about Birds of Prey

CAROL ZICKLER/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS Panther Valley Elementary School's fourth graders Tatiana Turner and Doug Vachon show off their "tails" at the school's Birds of Prey program conducted by Franklin Klock of the Carbon County Environmental Center. Klock brought to the school a red tailed hawk, an Owl, and a Barred Owl. Klock taught the students about the birds and that birds with larger tails are more mature than ones with small tails. He also told the students that they have homework, "Go outside and experience nature. Put down the video games and enjoy the out of doors."
