At 7 p.m., Monday, April 11, Palmerton Memorial VFW Post 7134 will hold its monthly meeting at the Palmerton VFW, 2020 Forest Inn Rd., Palmerton. Current active VFW members, veterans and active duty personnel from all service branches are invited to attend. New members are especially welcome.Community mealFrom 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, a free community meal will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are welcome to enjoy a free meal and fellowship.Lenten servicesJerusalem UCC, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, St. Matthew's UCC, Salem UCC and Salem-St. Paul Lutheran will gather together for midweek Lenten services.On Wednesday, April 13, the service will be hosted by Salem-St. Paul Lutheran. Pastor Sharon Temple will be preaching.A soup and sandwich supper will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by worship at 7:30 p.m. The host church provides the soup and dessert, and those attending should bring a sandwich.Relay for LifeAt 7 p.m., Monday, April 11, the Relay for Life of Palmerton and Surrounding Communities 2011 will hold a meeting at the Palmerton Area High School. The rain date will be April 17 at 3 p.m.An egg hunt will also be held in the Palmerton Borough Park at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 16.Story HourAt 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, the Palmerton Area Library has a special event planned for the children's story hour. The Barnyard Buddies will entertain the children and parents with lots of activities and live animals. This event will take place upstairs in the gallery, instead of the children's room. This event is free and open to all area youngsters.Free workshopAt 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, the Palmerton Area Library will host a free educational workshop titled: "More Than Money Matters: Credit and Debt". The presenter will be Frank Hall. This event will be sponsored by Thrivent Financial. All materials, workbooks, and snacks will be provided, call the library at (610) 826-3424 to register ahead.
