Since the beginning of this year, there have been six traffic accidents at the intersection of Broad and Spruce streets in Tamaqua. Five injuries resulted, according to police reports. Following the most recent accident on March 28, Tamaqua Police Chief Ron Sassaman ordered the officer on duty to "sit" at the intersection and observe traffic through it. In a span of an hour and 15 minutes, the officer cited three people for going through the red light and issued warnings to three others.
