Tamaqua firefighters responded to a vehicle fire located at the intersection of Pine Street (SR309), and Union Street around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. When firemen arrive the found a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Andrew Allesch of Tamaqua. Despite nearby residents' attempts, three emptied fire extinguishers and quick response of firefighters, the vehicle was destroyed. No one was injured. Fire police detoured traffic around area.
