Two area women were among 14 people who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court recently and were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin as follows:

Allison Elizabeth Fernando, of 614 Wyoming St., Tuscarora, Schuylkill Township, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and summary charges of driving while license suspended, failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic and careless driving as cited by Trooper Mario Pompei when stopped in New Philadelpha. The court accepted her guilty plea and deferred sentencing until Monday, April 25.Paula Lee Polansky, 38, of 186 Market St., Cumbola, BlytheTownship, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison effective Friday, April 1, at 10 a.m., pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), $50 to Catastrophe fund, enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school and receive outpatient substance abuse counseling.On a charge of reckless endangering another person must serve an additional 12 months on probation and on a charge of driving an unregistered vehicle was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Polansky was cited by Port Carbon Chief Jon Bowman.Nicholas Seven Nemeth, 52, Gordon, on a charge of transfer of firearms was placed on probation 18 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Trooper John Sieboda.Jessica Ann Oshman, 22, Mahanoy City, on a charge of simple assault on Sandra Kline, Mahanoy City, and a summary charge of harassment, the court accepted her guilty plea and deferred sentencing to Monday, April 25.Thomas Anthony Smullen Jr., 30, Pottsivlle, on a charge of recklessly endangering another person was placed on probation for 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Port Carbon Chief Jon J. Bowman.Katelyn Beth Soister, 24, Orwigsburg, on a DUI charge was placed in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) and sentenced to serve 10 days in the county prison followed by five months and 20 days on standard probation and 40 hours on house arrest with electronic monitoring followed by 40 days under strict probation.Soister also must pay a fine of $750, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and complete intensive outpatient counseling and her license is suspended 12 months. Soister was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner.Brandon Michael Starr, 27, Pottsville, on a charge of possession drug paraphernalia was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fnd, $50 to CJEA, make restitution of $352 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On a charge of possession a small amount of marijuana given a 30 days probation concurrent sentence. Starr was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph R. Welsh.Ryan Stemko, 22, Hazleton, on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (CS) in Mahanoy City, was given credit for spending 81 days in the county prison and was placed on parole for 18 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $175 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On charges of posssession of a CS and possession of drug paraphernalia received a 12 months probation term concurrent sentence on each charge. Stemko was cited by Mahanoy City Patrolman Robert Romanick.Robert Joseph Vesay, 39, Tower City, on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a CS in Minersville, was sentenced to serve four to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving 13 days, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Timothy William Weaver, 31, Mount Carmel, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP to serve 10 days in the county prison followed by 40 days on house arrest, 40 days under strict probation followed by three months on probation, fined $750, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, $50 to CJEA, attend safety school, complete outpatient treatment and license suspended 12 months. Weaver was cited by Pine Grove Sgt. Jeffrey Futchko.David Francis Wylie, Shenandoah, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by 90 days under house arrest, followed by 30 days of electronic monitoring, followed by seven months on strict probation then four years probation, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, complete outpatient treatment and license suspended 18 months. Wylie was cited by Trooper Michael Breznik.Adam John Eckert, 30, Minersville, on a disorderly conduct charge was fined $300, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Minersville Patrolmamn Jason A. Klouser.John McAndrew, 47, Gordon, on a DUI chage was placed in the IPP for six months with 15 days on house arrest followed by four months and 45 days on probation, pay $1,000 fine, $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, complete intensive outpatient treatment and license suspended 12 months.On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended was fined $1,000 plus $50 costs; careless drive, fined $25 plus $50 costs; and duty to give information and render aid following accident fined $25 plus $50 fine. McAndrew was cited by Trooper Brant Spleen on SR924 in Gilberton.Deborah L. Whipple, 51, Pottsville, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison, however, she received credit for 142 spent in prison, and was immediately released on parole for 12 months, fined $450, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, attend safety school and license suspended 12 months. On a charge of giving a false report to police was given a 39 days incarceration sentence to run concurrent and on a charge of improper child restraint was fined $10 plus $50 costs.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
