Schuylkill fugitive is apprehended

A Schuylkill County man, wanted on two separate warrants, one for striking a police officer, was apprehended on Monday.

State police at Frackville said Marques Reginald Reaves, 26, formerly of Pottsville, was taken into custody in Reading about 9:30 a.m. by troopers, Reading city police, U.S. Marshall's and state parole officers.He was returned to Schuylkill County and arraigned on various charges and committed to the county prison in Pottsville. There is also a detainer on him filed by the state parole board.Reaves was wanted for an incident on March 4 in Pottsville. Reaves allegedly struck a Pottsville police officer in the arm with his vehicle while attempting to flee a traffic stop. Reaves escaped on foot. In that incident he is charged with aggravated and simple assault and fleeing and eluding.He was also wanted for a March 20 incident in Shenandoah where troopers from the Frackville barracks attempted to stop him for traffic violations. Reaves attempted to flee and was pursued to Interstate 81 near Frackville where he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.Reaves was the subject of a state crime watchers alert last week in which an award was posted for information leading to his apprehension.
