NW softball, Raider girls track team win

Northwestern's girls soccer team came away with a win and the Tamaqua girls finished on top of the field at the Pirate Invitational this weekend.

Jim Thorpe finished seventh with 38 points.In boys competititon, Pennridge was first with 184 points. Tamaqua ended up sixth with 56 points and Jim Thorpe eighth with 32.The Lady Raiders picked up six firsts in the meet with Christine Streisel winning the shot put (32-09) and discus (84-06), Kayla Hope winning the long (15-04) and triple jumps (33-07).Allison Updike took first in the javelin with a throw of 144-09 and Taylor Gerber won the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.28.On the boys side, Tamaqua's Zach Lakitsky won the 100 meters in 11.39, while Jim Thorpe's Ben Moore won the javelin with a throw of 147-01.
