A Schuylkill County woman was jailed this week for assault on a state trooper and endangering the welfare of two children.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said on March 17 10:58 a.m. they received two complaints of a woman with two young children in and out of traffic along SR443 in Wayne Township at the Washington Township line.Troopers responded to the scene and found Melanie Beuchler, 31, of Pine Grove, and two juvenile males, ages two and three. Trooper Edward Sanchez approached Beuchler to offer assistance when she assaulted him. She was detained at the scene and later transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville and admitted. The two children were taken to relatives.The Schuylkill Office of Children and Youth were notified and has started an investigation into the incident.Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Beuchler and she was taken into custody upon her release from the hospital on March 21. She was charged with aggravated and simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and disorderly conduct.She was arraigned before District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, and committed to the county prison after failing to post $20,000 straight cash bail.
