Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways, both occurring on Wednesday, March 23.

Troopers said about 6:10 a.m. Robert J. Stock, 48, of Pottsville, was driving a 2009 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck southbound on SR209 near Brickey St., in Branch Township, in the village of Llewellyn, when the truck began to fishtail. The Toyota crossed the center line and entered the northbound lane where it struck a 1998 Chevrolet 2500 truck driven by Shawn M. Gonda, 39, of Newtown, Bucks County.The drivers side front end fender of the Toyota struck the extended cab area on the drivers side of the Chevrolet.No one was injured and both vehicles were driven from the scene.The second crash occurred about 10:46 a.m. along E. Main St. in Schuylkill Haven. Troopers said Janis H. McGowan, 60, of Orwigsburg, was stopped at the intersection with Randel St. to make a left turn when her 2006 Ford Freestar was struck in the rear by a 2009 Honda Accord driven by Thomas R. Fisher, 73, of Auburn.Neither driver was injured but a passenger with McGowan, a eight year old female from Orwigsburg, sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.Fisher was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
