Two persons, believed to be elderly, were seriously injured late Friday morning in an accident involving a car and tractor trailer at the intersection of SR100 and Kernsville Road in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County.

The car the couple occupied was pinned beneath the trailer portion of the Wal-Mart rig which ended up on Kernsville Road.Three Lehigh county fire departments spent two hours in freeing the injured from the wreckage.Both were flown via MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center in Allentown.
