Zoning hearing lacks a quorum

A hearing by the Lehighton Zoning Hearing Board scheduled for last night to discuss an expansion plan by the Lehighton Fire Department was postponed because of the lack of a quorum.

Only two of the five zoning board members were present.The zoning members in attendance were Randall Semmel and Chairman George Petrole.Absent were Mary Lou Brophy, who was out of town; Ricky Graver, and Marie Vrablic.Also present was attorney William Bayer, the borough solicitor, as well as a court stenographer.The hearing was rescheduled for 7 p.m. on April 28.The fire department is proposing connecting Station 1 with Station 2 on South Third Street, which involves the demolition of three houses.More bays will be added to the fire department if the project becomes a reality.
