Eighteen cars of a 44-car freight train of the Central Railroad of New Jersey jumped the tracks yesterday afternoon under the Route 209 bridge in Weissport, causing a massive pileup of cars and cargo. The jumble of wreckage spilled over the banks of the right of way, blocking the two path of the Lehigh Canal, knocking over a utility pole and felling wires. One box car smashed into a concrete bridge pier and other cars piled up behind it. No one was injured. One engine also went off the track.
