Bloodmobile

The next American Red Cross Bloodmobile visit to Tamaqua will be on March 30. The Salvation Army gym will be turned into a blood collection center. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m.Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health is eligible to donate blood. Donor cards or proper identification will be required.Appointments for donors can be made by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.Walk for lifeCare Net of Tamaqua, an organization providing services to pregnant women, plans to open an office in Tamaqua, at 223 E. Broad St.The center will provide life-affirming guidance, counseling, prenatal classes, parenting classes and much more to area women and families.The organization will sponsor a Walk For Life on April 2, beginning at 1 p.m. The route will begin at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, then head west on Broad Street to Odd Fellows Cemetery. Participants will then head east on Broad Street to to the Stone Gardens area before returning to the church.For more information, or a sponsorship package, call (570) 668-4059.Lenten serviceThe Tamaqua ministerium will sponsor a series of free Community Lenten services leading up to Easter. The services will begin at noon and will be followed by light luncheons.Upcoming services and locations will be: March 23, Primitive Methodist Church, 57 Hunter St.; March 30, First United Methodist Church, 124 W. Broad St.; April 6, St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 266 W. Broad St.; and April 13, Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St.A Community Good Friday service will be held April 22, at noon, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St. This service will not be followed by a luncheon.Calvary UMThe Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a session of praise, worship and Bible study, in the evangelistic style, will be held at 6:30 p.m.A community Lenten service will be held Wednesday, at Frieden's Lutheran Church, New Ringgold, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The service will be preceded by a hymnsing at 7:15 p.m.SS. Peter and PaulLenten services in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will include Stations of the Cross on Wednesdays, at 7 p.m. Also during Lent, holy hours with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be held Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays, from 4-5 p.m.Also on Wednesdays, the Adult Choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m. and confessions will be heard from 6 to 7 p.m.Zion LewistownThe Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, candy orders are due and pierogies will be available.On Tuesday, the fund raising committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the pre school committee will meet at 7:30 p.m.Zion Valley Christian Preschool will host an open house on March 24, from 6-8 p.m.Fitness for Friends, a community exercise class, meets Mondays and Thursdays, 6-7 p.m., in the social hall.
