After a two-month winter hiatus the Western Pocono Women's Club will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, March 21, at the Effort Methodist Church. This will be a social evening and a chance to catch up on the club's business.Membership in the WPWC is open to women 18 years and older seeking to help their community. The members have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, exchange ideas, and form lifelong friendships. The WPWC sponsors two scholarships for local high school women. Check the club website

It has been rescheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, March 31, in the township building.PIC hopes to set up its first field day for April 9, meeting at 8 a.m., at the township building, located on Route 715. The rain date for the field day is April 16.At that meeting, the future will be discussed as well as roads that are littered. PIC is in desperate need of volunteers to help. Among them is the Pregnancy Resource of the Poconos. The agency can be reached at (570) 424-0373.Much helpFebruary statistics from the county for the six tax-dollar supported food pantries has the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network again serving the most client families, although the Pocono Mountain Ecumenical Hunger Ministry served larger family groups. The six food pantries together touched the lives of over 3,000 persons in need in one month.Lioness meetThe Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, at the American Legion. Special desserts and coffee will be served.Irish paradeWest Enders will be among the folks participating in the annual Monroe County St. Patrick's Parade. It is being held Sunday, March 20, between the boroughs of Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg.Pocono Parkinson'sThe monthly gathering for the Pocono Parkinson's Support Group will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, at the Loder Building in East Stroudsburg. The meeting is free and open to the public. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour and is held at Ye Olde Saylors Inn in Saylorsburg. Bill and Tiffany Doyle will speak about snakes and reptiles and are expected to bring along a few of their slithery friends.The club's next community service project is holding a Red Cross blood drive, its second annual, on Thursday, March 31, at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert. Donations will be accepted from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.Historical SocietyChestnuthill Township's Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building.Zion SeniorsThe next gathering of the Zion Seniors will be held at 11 a.m., St. Patrick's Day. Participants are reminded to bring a sandwich. Beverages are provided. Monroe Seniors also use Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville facilities.
