A four-alarm fire burned a garment factory in Palmerton R. 1 to the ground early this morning, knocking out electric and telephone services in the area and leaving over 130 men and women without jobs. Fernbrook Sportswear was demolished by the fire despite efforts of firemen from several communities. Firemen arrived on the scene shortly after 1:50 a.m., but the roof of the large, wood-frame building had already caved in.The cause of the fire was not determined.
