Fazio announces candidacy for Penn Forest supervisor

Christine Fazio, Indian Mountain Lake, Albrightsville, has announced that she will be a candidate in the May primary election for Penn Forest Township supervisor. Fazio, a registered Democrat, is a member of the East Carbon County Democratic Club.

A Wilkes-Barre native and a former Beaver Meadows resident, she has been a Carbon County resident for the past 37 years. Mrs. Fazio is married to Carl Fazio and they recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. They have a son, Corey, and a granddaughter, Alexa Rain.Fazio graduated from Wilkes College with a BA in psychology and the University of Scranton with a MS in rehabilitation counseling. She also holds national certification as a rehabilitation counselor, client counselor and disability analyst.For the past 33 years, she has been employed by the Pa. Department of Public Welfare in a variety of roles. Before my retirement, she served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Chief of Guardian Services for five years. Her duties included the management and supervision of all Pennsylvania Guardian offices which were located in the Commonwealth's mental health hospitals and mental retardation centers. Her primary responsibility with this position was to safeguard the money and property of the men and women living in these facilities. Upon her retirement from state service, she received a "resolution of appreciation" from her supervisor and the Secretary of Public Welfare for her work.Upon retirement, she has been a substitute teacher for Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 and the Jim Thorpe School District. She is currently an elected Democratic Committeewoman and auditor for Penn Forest Township and serves on the Carbon County Children and Youth Services advisory board. In my community, She has twice been elected to the board of directors and has served as both treasurer and secretary. She has also been a 10 year member of "STOP" a statewide organization to abolish primary residences from property taxation.Other community activities include her charter membership in the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8225 and participation in various children's activities, including serving as a swimming/diving coach, and helping to organize community Halloween parades, Christmas parties and Easter egg hunts.
