Jim Thorpe School Board voted to change its tax collector from a commission to a salary basis. Under the new program, the tax collector will receive an annual salary of $3,500. Under the previous system, Tax Collector Ann Hilferty received a three percent commission on school taxe collected during the rebate period and five percent on other taxes, plus $1,683.23 for borough taxes. Last year she received $5,610.77 in commissions from school taxes. She also collects borough and county taxes on a commission basis.
