Monroe arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two arrests made officers in separate incident.

On Monday, Feb. 21, about 8:18 p.m. officers investigated an violation for a protection from abuse (PFA) order. Police said their probe revealed that Brian Cornell, 41, of Swiftwater, had called his wife by phone and made derogatory remarks. Cornell was prohibited from having any contact with his wife due to the PFA order.On Feb. 22 police made contact with Cornell by phone and told him he had violated the PFA order and needed to turn himself into to them. On Feb. 23 Cornell turned himself in to police and was later arraigned on the criminal count of violating the order.The second arrest occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 23, about 6:48 p.m. Officers responded to the area of Long Pond Road at SR940 for a person stumbling in the roadway. Upon arrival officers made contact wtih Luz Rivera, 42, of Tobyhanna, She was found to be highly intoxicated and was taken into custody for her own safety.She was transported to the county prison and charged with public drunkenness.
