A resolution was adopted by Nesquehoning Borough Council that will have the borough become the owner of the New Columbus Park, and have it named in memory of John F. Cerchairo, one of the leaders of the community. The 120-by-270 foot plot was donated by Mrs. Cerchairo to the borough, providing the park is renamed John F. Cerchairo Memorial Park and a plaque erected in honor of her late husband. The park was at one time the site of the New Columbus School.
