A Tamaqua man has been cited following a one-vehicle accident on Owl Creek Road on Feb. 12.

Officers were dispatched to the area at 2:38 a.m. and discovered a tan Buick on its roof in the southbound lane. The driver was identified as Joseph L. Houser, 27, of 242 Van Gelder St. Houser told officers he had been traveling north and swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The car struck an embankment and flipped over.A strong odor of alcohol was detected on Houser's breath. He agreed to take a portable breath test which indicated a .12 blood alcohol content level.Houser has been cited for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.
