Dear Editor:

This has to do with the church bell ringing. I hardly hear any church bells ringing for quite some time. The only time I hear one is when I am down around the Five Points or on Pine or Mauch Chunk streets in Tamaqua.Then they hardly sound loud enough. Even when the churches that have chiming bells, I can hardly hear them.Years ago they all rang loudly on a Sunday when it was time for the Sunday services. What has happened in this town? Do you people in the churches know who caused this or what caused it to be this way?Boy, all the darn cars going around the town, both day and night, with their loud motors and their loud radios blasting. They get away with that loud noise. Is it the town government's fault? The police people fault? Who is responsible for all this?I think the churches should start ringing their bells on Sundays like they always did for years, no for centuries. That was the way our forefathers had it and that is the way it should be today. I don not care who is against me in my opinion. This is what I believe in.Edward R. Rummel, Tamaqua
