Suspect in Lower Towamensing break-in waives burglary charges

A former Palmerton resident presently lodged in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility yesterday waived a hearing on charges that he burglarized a Lower Towamensing residence.

Gary Mark Kieffer, 39, appeared before District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe.Kieffer was returned to Montgomery County. He has several charges pending regarding other burglaries in Lehigh County.He has been charged with making a forced entry through the rear window of the Bruce Koch residence on Cherryhill Road in Lower Towamensing Township on Nov. 28.Trooper Anthony Doblovasky of the Lehighton barracks of the Pa. State Police interviewed a neighbor of Koch, who described a vehicle which entered the driveway on the day of the burglary.Prior to this, a male in the vehicle had knocked on the door of her home and asked "if this was the Miller residence, and seemed upset as he returned to his vehicle."She told police she observed the same vehicle exiting the driveway of the Koch home about 30 to 60 minutes later.Trooper Nicholas de la Iglesia of the Lehighton barracks writes in the affidavit that Kieffer admitted to the Koch burglary.Reportedly stolen was miscellaneous currency and jewelry valued at $5,200.Kieffer is currently awaiting proceedings regarding multiple burglaries in multiple jurisdictions, police said. Among them are a Jan. 28 burglary in Washington Township, Lehigh County.
