A Lansford man faces driving under the influence (DUI) and related charges after being caught by Coaldale police driving erratically on SR209.

Robert James Stackhouse Jr., 29, of 117 E. Patterson St., was pulled over at 2:40 a.m. Jan. 30 after Officer Joseph David saw him accelerate to 65 miles-per-hour in a 45 zone, then drive off the highway, completely onto the shoulder between First and Anthracite streets, according to a police report.David activated his emergency lights and siren just past Anthracite Street, but Stackhouse kept driving, heading into Lansford, making a right onto Parkway and then another right into the public swimming pool parking lot.Stackhouse continued halfway through the lot before finally stopping.David approached the vehicle and spoke with Stackhouse, whom he identified through a driver's license. The officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol and saw that Stackhouse's eyes were bloodshot.David called for Officer Charles Blesse to assist. Blesse administered field sobriety tests which Stackhouse failed. Stackhouse also took a portable breath test which indicated he had drunk alcohol.After being taken to the police station for another breath test he was released to his wife.The breath test at the station yielded a result of 0.178 percent. Stackhouse was also charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic and (failing to) drive at a safe speed.
