Walker Township has new secretary/treasurer

Walker Township has a new secretary/treasurer. Supervisors introduced Dana Brubaker at last night's regular meeting. Brubaker is taking over for Suzanne Borzak who retired last month.

Chairman Craig Wagner said that Brubaker will be working to convert the township's accounts to Quickbooks, which will make handling the township's records easier.Supervisors were also received a report from township engineer David Horst, of Alfred Benesch, that the fence installation at Wildcat Park has been completed. The Cold Run bridge repairs that are scheduled to be done have been postponed due to the weather. After a review of the bids that were submitted for the township building siding project, Horst determined that the lowest bid was submitted by L&K Construction for 29 gauge siding, while the other bids specified 26 gauge. The bid specs said "replace in kind." Horst recommended that the township review the specs and award the bid based on the correct gauge.Rob Tourney, the general manager for R.E. Pierson, requested an update from the supervisors on the zoning application submissions to build laboratory facility at the Middleport Quarry. As Horst was not at the meeting, it was unclear where the application is currently at. Supervisors did grant a request to waive the land development plan for the proposed non-residential building as part of the zoning application. The supervisors also approved the signing of the articles of agreement for the regional police study. A meeting will be held next Thursday, February 10th for all of the interested parties. Supervisors then adjourned for an executive session regarding personnel matters.
