Registrations for the 2011-12 school year at Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, are being taken this week during Catholic Schools Week. Parents can make arrangements to register their child(ren) by calling (570) 645-7170.Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old by Oct. 15 following the September in which they begin school. Children registering for first grade must be 6 years old by Oct. 15 following the September in which they begin school.The school's weeklong celebration will continue on Thursday and Friday of this week.On Thursday, Feb. 3, "Celebrating Catholic Schools in Our Vocations" will be the theme. The students will participate in prayer for vocations, present treat baskets for the offices of the clergy and hold a student assembly at 1 p.m.On Friday, Feb. 4, "Celebrating Catholic Schools in Our Faculty and Staff" will be held. Following a Mass and Academic Symbol Procession at 9 a.m. in St. Katharine Church, students will be dismissed and a faculty and staff appreciation luncheon will take place.NesquehoningNCFC auxiliaryThe Ladies Auxiliary to the New Columbus Fire Company will not hold a meeting in February. A "Souper Bowl" free will offering will be collected by the confirmation class to benefit the food pantry.Sunday school is held each week at 9 a.m. All children are invited to attend.Worship service is held at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Hazel officiating.On Tuesday, Feb. 8, a congregational council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the church.On Sunday, Feb. 13, a congregational meeting will be held immediately following the worship service to discuss and vote on issues facing the church.
