Catholic schools across the nation will soon embark on their signature week of the school year.

Much like their contemporaries, St. John Neumann Regional School will celebrate its annual Catholic Schools Week Jan. 30 through Feb. 4.For students, that means activities galore that tie in with the theme of this year's celebration, A+ For America Catholic Schools.On Sunday, there will be a program: In Our Parish: Our Parish Liturgies. Students should wear uniforms to their church.Then, on Monday, there will be a program: In Our Community, followed by an Open House Meet and Greet from 10 a.m. to noon at both campuses. At 2 p.m., there will be a proclamation from the Palmerton Chamber of Commerce presented by Peter Kern, president of the chamber. A Scholastic Book Fair will also be held.On Tuesday, there will be a program: In Our Students, a Special Persons Pizza Luncheon at the Palmerton campus, as well as the Scholastic Book Fair and Student Photo Gallery.Wednesday will feature a program: In Our Nation - Red-White-Blue Attire. There will be a presentation from 8:45-9:30 a.m. by Kathy Miller, author and photographer. All students are to report to the Palmerton campus in the morning. All families and friends are invited to attend. There will be donations and cards to those who keep us safe locally.On Thursday, there will be a program: In Our Vocations, at which time they'll pray together for Religious Vocation at the Palmerton campus, where there will be speakers on religious-priestly life. There will also be a Special Persons Pizza Luncheon at the Slatington campus, snow tubing at Blue Mountain Ski Area at 4 p.m., and a Scholastic Book Fair and Student Art Gallery.Friday, there will be a program: In Our Faculty, Staff, Volunteers, Crazy Hat/Sock/Tie Day. All students are to report to the Palmerton campus for mass in Sacred Heart Church. There will also be a magic show at 10 a.m., followed by early dismissal at 11:30 a.m. by busses or by parents.Along with academics, St. John Neumann students learn character and integrity, compassion, and creativity, and grow in understanding. The staff provides a Christ-centered education and personal involvement with students and parents.The school's Slatington campus houses pupils in grades K-3, while the Palmerton campus houses students in grades 4-8.Call either campus, 610-767-2935, or 610-826-2354, to arrange for a tour of the school.
