Demolition has begun on theformer Wal-Mart store along Route 443 in Mahoning township. Ademolition crew has already brought down the portion of the structure which housed the auto maintenancecenter. A large crane is in the process ofremoving the air handling systems from the roofof the building. Another group has begunremoving the fence from around the job site. The site is owned by Lowe's, which anticipates starting construction on a new home improvement center shortly after the demo work is done. The Lowe's is expected to open by the end of the year.
