A feared upper cut from Old Man Winter turned out to be nothing more than a glancing blow as our area dodged a snowstorm that dumped up to a foot of snow in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Forecasters had warned the Carbon/Schuylkill area could receive six or more inches of snow.That forecast was changed early Wednesday to three to six inches.The snow began sifting down Wednesday morning and continued throughout the day, tapering off in the late afternoon before beginning again.Points south, including the Lehigh Valley, were hit harder, with about a foot of snow reported in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.The Pleasant Valley School District was closed and most other districts in the area operated on a two-hour delay.The sun is expected to break through clouds today, with the temperature forecast at 32 degrees in the Lehighton area.Temperatures are expected to plunge to about 16 degrees tonight, with a 50 percent chance of snow forecast for Friday.The weekend looks better, with National Weather Service forecasters calling for partly sunny skies and temperatures ranging from the mid-to-upper 20s.
