Eight from area among 32 to enter guilty pleas

A New Ringgold man pleaded guilty to growing marijuana plants in his home and was sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin in Schuylkill County Court. He was one of 32 defendants who also entered guilty pleas to criminal charges.

Eight from areaJames Leon Ulrich Jr., 42, of 18 Summer Mountain Road, New Ringgold, was sentenced on a charge of manufacturing a controlled substance serve 24 months on probation, and pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA). Ulrich was cited by Trooper Troy S. Greenawald, after police entered his home on Jan. 29, 2010, and seized 14 marijuana plants found in the basement.Brian Ingold, 47, of 216 First St., Coaldale, was sentenced on a charge of indecent assault to serve 23 months on probation, pay $50 to CJEA, and shall not have contact with the victim nor the victim's immediate family. Broad St., Tamaqua, was senteced on a charge of criminal conspiracy and retail theft from Walmart Store, Hometown, to serve 18 months on probation after receiving credit for having served 31 days in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 40 hours of community service. On a charge of retail theft he received a concurrent 12 months probation. Berger was cited by Rush Township Patrolman Brian Thompson.Ethan Christopher Madeira, 20, of 32 Main St., Kaska, Blythe Township, was sentenced for retail theft and was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 10 hours of community service and make restitution of $164.91 for nine items stolen from Walmart Store, Hometown.Michael Vincent Putalavage, 58, of 70 Sunny Drive, MaryD, Schuylkill Township, was sentenced on two counts of possession of a controlled substance to serve nine to 23 months in the county prison beginning Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 9 a.m., pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA, and $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Putalavage was cited by Trooper Brent Spleen.Michael Anthony Gomez, 29, of 35 Bridge Street, McAdoo, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) was sentenced to serve 10 days in the county prison beginning Jan. 28 at 9 a.m., pay a fine of $750, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, complete alcohol highway safe driving school, receive intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment and driver's license suspended 12 months. Gomez was cited by McAdoo Patrolman Robert Minnick.Carmen James Cara, 43, of 30 Center Street, Kelayres, DUI, was placed in the county's probation Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $500, pay $50 to Catastrophe fund, complete safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment and license suspended 12 months.
