Suspects sought in Monroe break-in

State police at Lehighton are seeking two suspects and a vehicle driver involved in a burglary of a Monroe County residence. The break-in occurred at the home of Paul G. Viani, 76, of New York, N.Y., and located along Upper Smith Gap Road, in Eldred Township.

Troopers said two males gained entry to the home by smashing a window on a rear door. Once inside they attempted to steal the copper pipe from a baseboard radiator but were unsuccessful. They then removed a DeWalt cordless drill box and an extension cord from an upstairs room before fleeing.The two walked east on Upper Smith Gap Road where they ditched the drill and extension cord as a motorist passed. The two then got into a late model two-tone (blue and white or light gray) Chevrolet Blazer which was driven by a female.The vehicle had Missouri registration plate FG9F9Y on it. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19.The two white males were described as being between 20-30 years old, five-feet, eight or 10 inches tall. One had dark hair and a beard and the other blonde hair and clean cut.
