An elderly Schuylkill County woman died of injuries she sustained when struck by a vehicle.

Eleanor Clover, 79, a resident of the Mahanoy City High Rise, 10 W. Centre St., died Tuesday at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was flown after the accident. She sustained head injuries.Borough police identified the driver as Frank Souchack, 82, of 21 Trenton St., Mahanoy City.Police said the accident happened on Tuesday as Souchack was driving north on Main Street and attempting to make a right turn onto E. Centre Street when he struck Clover. Clover was in the crosswalk, halfway between the curb and the center yellow line, police said.Police said Souchack had a green light, at the time.Reportedly, at the time of the accident borough and state officials were in the lobby of the Sen. James J. Rhoades Downtown Center to announce the receipt of a $1.02 million PennDOT funding to be used for pedestrian safety and downtown revitalization projects.Police said a decision on whether charges will be filed against Souchack has not been decided.
